Yesterday, the roadwork team informed us we needed to change our water and power lines.
After listening to them, I understood it was a valid point and decided to make those changes.
So, I called our plumber for labour, and he said he couldn’t come.
Ok, next I called our electrician. He said he is in a different location and won’t be able to come.
Bad day for us.
Both of them are not able to make it today, and it’s a urgent work.
Luckly it was saturday. My brother was available in the house.
So we decided to do it all ourselves. Me, my dad and my brother.
We started work at 12 pm. It was too sunny; we couldn’t even stand outside. Even with that temperature, we had to make changes to prevent future issues.
Luckily, we followed some best practices that 95% of the users usually never follow during house construction time. This could be due to knowledge issues, or sometimes, to save money, they avoid following some of the best practices.
In our case, we followed all the best practices in electrical work while connecting on the pole. Because of this reason, we easily removed the connection from the main pole and moved our electrical cable.
Yes. It did take a lot of time. But, removing the connection on the pole was quite easy even for us. Usually, experienced electricians only prefer to do the pole connection and removal work.
Due to the safety measures we followed, my inexperienced brother easily disconnected under my dad’s guidance (professional Electrical engineer).
Next, we need to change the water line by following all the best practices to get enough water compared to all the non-optimized water line connections nearby.
Many users never even think about best practices to take care of while making connections and suffer later for water not coming issues.
I have seen a lot of my neighbours make water line changes when water scarcity occurs due to not following the optimized water line connection principles.
Anyway, we made both the water line and electrical line changes ourselves. The work finished at 6 pm.
Learned something from this experience as well. There is definitely something I need to share about running cable or water line connections to the new construction house.
None of the contractors teach all these while doing your house construction. Better educate yourself and save future issues.
Until I write on this topic, I have already written a guide on electrical work, including suggestions for connecting poles to houses and more tips in my electrical work guide.
And for all the best practices to get good water flow, I shared all my learnings and insights inside my Sump Construction Guide.
Till I release a new guide, read those guides. Do it right when you do it for the first time so you save money, energy and time later.
