Water Purifier - Things I Learned

I want to share few things that I learned from our water purifier. I’m sure you will learn something from this.

We use Kent water purifier.

It’s doing it’s job well and good for first one or two years. It also comes with two year free visiting charges. If technicians notices any issues in the purifier, those spare parts are chargeable.

First few years maintenance charges is not that much. But after two years is when the things started heating up.

Each time any issues happen we book a service request with the company. The technicians will comes and bill minimum ₹3,000 to ₹8,000. This bill is usually yearly once. Sometimes we even paid twice yearly as well.

Every time we raise any service request, we should be ready with minimum ₹5,000 + ₹400 service charges.

The technicians always charge 3 times more than the what we can get in the market without fail telling these are company products.

The maintenance cost of Kent water purifier is way too high.

I went through the all the service bill that I paid and noticed, yearly we are easily spending ₹5K - ₹12K on the service alone.

I sit and analysed how we can avoid it. After that I got an idea of changing water purifier every 2 years once.

There is no point in repairing 4 year old water purifier as and when issues arises. Instead, we better buy brand new purifier every 2 year once is going be a good idea to save cost and have peace of mind maintenance.

Now our Kent purifier is still running, but already making a sound. Which means it needs another repair soon…

So, this is the right time to buy another purifier. This time I don’t want to buy Kent so I spent whole day researching a good water purifier.

I shortlisted this water purifier based on my through research.

We ordered this water purifier on this sale. It costed us around ₹11,500 after all the discount. This purifier comes with 2 years unconditional warranty. Which means, if any parts goes wrong within 2 years it’s on the company.

So it costed me ₹6,000 per year on average to have this purifier. I can happily spend it ₹6K per year if company delivers its promise of maintaining the purifier for 2 years.

Having predictable expenses is much better than the sudden bill of up to ₹12K on maintaining old water purifier.

I already decided to book a new water purifier on this sale but my brother is still not sure about my idea of changing water purifier every 2 year once. So yesterday he explained this new purifier, cost and it’s 2 year condition to my dad to ask his suggestion.

My DAD without hesitating informed him book. Its a good deal and peace of mind of maintenance cost.

After listening to my dad words, he immediately booked brand new water purifier.

The reason why i’m sharing this with you is, if you use water purifier in you house and it’s already more than 2-year old it’s better to change the purifier than spending money on repair or maintenance cost.

Mostly, repair cost of water purifier keeps increasing every year.

If you sit and analyse the service bills that you paid you may notice service bill almost reaching the cost of brand new water purifier itself.

If that’s the case, why not buy brand new on the sale?

Also, with water purifier I recommend using a good stabilizers to prevent damages to electrical components due to voltage variations. In Kent water purifier, we replaced 2 or 3 times power supply unit due to voltage variation issue. Then we installed this stabilizer, and the issue stopped completely.
