Sump Cleaner Sharing His Observation

Last week, we scheduled a sump cleaning service for our first house sump in a hurry…

It was 5 PM, and we wanted an immediate sump cleaning service. It’s already late.

I opened Google Map and called all the sump cleaning services near our house. All of them were saying that we would come tomorrow like that.

But we didn’t have much time and wanted to clean on the same day because tomorrow we planned to attend some relative’s functions.

After trying 3+ services, one guy agreed to come immediately. He said he would arrive in 15 minutes and came within 15 minutes. Which is a very rare incident of vendor sticking to their words.

As soon as their vehicle came, only one guy was getting out.

I immediately asked where the other guys were.

He replied, Me only, sir. I will clean it, don’t worry.

I got really upset seeing only one guy.

Usually, 2 or 3 people come to clean the sump. This guy came like a beachside traveller. Like wearing a stylish tee shirt, 3/4 pants, and a stylish hat.

I immediately thought he was not going to clean properly. He will dump all the sump water outside, do 5 minutes of pressure washing, and finish the work.

After some back-and-forth talking to him, he assured me he would clean properly. I also don’t have any choice but to watch how he cleans the sump.

We started a casual discussion while waiting till he removed all the sump water outside.

I asked him don’t you find it difficult doing this task alone?

He replied, No, sir.

At least in this sump, you offered ______. Some of the sumps I visit for cleaning don’t even offer this. At that time, it was difficult to perform the task.

When he mentioned that point, I was quite surprised.

That’s one of the basic things for sump. Why don’t owners offer that feature? - I asked him.

The sump cleaner replied It could be due to a few reasons like -

1. some labourers miss guide owners, saying it will cause sump leakage

2. The owner doesn’t have that knowledge during their construction time

Whatever the reason, it will be difficult to maintain if they don’t provide that feature inside the sump.

I also shared our mistake in the sump due to a lack of knowledge during our first construction.

Sump cleaners agreed that’s an important thing everyone should have in all their sump.

Our sump water got over, and the cleaner went inside to clean it.
