Save Yourself From Fan Repair Work

Sunday, one of our tenants complained, saying their fan was making some noise and a spark was also coming.

My brother and I went and checked the status and learned that we could not easily fix this problem, so we booked the company technician.

Yesterday, he came to address the complaint.

This is not the first time coming to the house. We raised some service request before as well. The same guy came and fixed those issues.

This time, the same guy came.

I remember a few incidents with him as soon as I saw him. One such incident is when he demanded the warranty card with the date, shop owner sign, and seal.

In our case, it was not done.

The shop guy intentionally gave a warranty card without mentioning anything on it. He told me that when you need those, come to us, and I will do it and give it to you.

That way, the shop guy will help us extend the product’s warranty.

We don’t usually raise requests for small things. If it’s minor, we usually repair it ourselves. If it requires more work, then only we book service requests.

We used another brand than what we used in our first rental property for all new units we constructed by listening to the shop owner’s words.

Now we have realised what a mistake we made.

The fan brand we used in our first rental unit had no complaints. I guess it’s already 5+ years without a single complaint.

Here is another brand that we trusted based on the shop owner’s words and raising multiple complaint requests, and we also fixed multiple minor issues.

Attending these tenant fan complaints is not a fun job for us.

The quality of this fan brand is the worst. When the company technician came, he also noticed that the bolt that came with the fan was almost gone. If the fan ran a few more days without fixing the issue, it could have fallen on the tenant. Which has already happened in our rental unit once.

That much worse fan brand it is.

By the way, it’s a popular selling fan brand on Amazon and Flipkart.

We decided that once the warranty period is over, or if any major complaint comes up, we will change this fan brand to another good one.

In our case, it’s a lot of fans (2*13=26 fans) to do this. So we are replacing slowly as and when a major complaint comes.
