Old Village Style Farmhouse Owners Sharing Mistakes

I watched a few YouTube videos of users building farms and farmhouses today.

A couple bought a 1-acre empty land in a village, planted plants, and built a house to spend their weekend time.

These days I’m quite interested in farm house living kind of environment. So, YouTube keeps feeding me that kind of video.

When I get bored, I watch those…

Coming to the couples who built a small farmhouse. The house is quite different. These couples are YouTubers, so they make YouTube videos as a side business.

So, this house is part of one of their YouTube channels. Their channel is focused on showing some kind of village lifestyle. This is a new channel they started after constructing this farmhouse.

Before this channel, they already had another channel where they showed their empty farm, how the house plan came, how they grew so many plants, etc., kind of videos.

I enjoy those few farmhouse-related videos.

Their farmhouse is quite different. It’s not like what you see in the latest farmhouse. They built that house like an old village-style house…

They were sharing their experience of how it had gone. In that video, they shared how they wasted so much money by experimenting with a lot of things. Because they are trying to make that house old-fashioned, and the latest generation labourers don’t know much, they have to experiment with many things to achieve what they had in their vision.

The house came out good… but they had some regrets about making mistakes and wasting money. They shared those on a video.

All new/first-time users feel this once they are done with their construction.

I had such feelings even during the construction of my second house.

One example is implementing a filter wastewater collection system in all houses to one tank in the parking.

This is a new idea that I got to save water. So I informed my plumber to give one pipe inside the kitchen where the user can insert the filter waste water pipe so all the filter wastewater comes to a separate tank in the parking.

Implementation is done…

When it was time to check the trial run, I realised my mistake. For some reason, water is not reaching the parking tank. So now, when it’s time to see and fix the problem, I need to visit all 9 houses to see where water is going… or where the problem is coming from.

During construction time, I may somehow identify the problem and fix it. But once all the houses are given to rent, how on earth could I go to all the houses to troubleshoot?

It’s simply impossible.

When water didn’t reach the intended destination, I started realising all the other problems that could arise when all units were given for rent that I had never thought of before.

I wasted money on labour and material costs and dropped using the feature that I already implemented.

This is something common in all house construction with all owners. It’s not just me or them.

If you want to avoid a few such costly mistakes during your house construction, I have shared all such stuff in my guides. These are the common mistakes most new users make during their house construction time. Avoid those mistakes, save money and regret later.
